The Australian and New Zealand Geomorphology Group (ANZGG) is an informal body established primarily to organise conferences on geomorphic themes for the benefit of the community of geomorphologists in Australia and New Zealand. At the ten highly successul conferences organised by the ANZGG (the first having been held at Robertson NSW in 1982), geomorphologists and others with an interest in landscapes have gathered at a range of conference locations across Australia and New Zealand. The meetings are always characterised by wide-ranging presentations, and by a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. A conference dinner featuring an entertaining address by a member of the geomorphic fraternity has become a much-enjoyed feature of the conferences. Locations for the conferences are always selected with a view to the provision of interesting field trips run in association with the meeting.
The tenth ANZGG conferences was held in Kalgoorlie, WA, from 30 September - 4 October 2002. The eleventh conference was held at Mt Buffalo in Victoria in the period 15th - 20th February 2004. The Twelfth conference will be held at Taipa Bay, North Island, New Zealand, 12 - 17 February 2006.
The ANZGG has always been an informal body. Since the middle 1990s, it has had a loose structure of office bearers whose primary task has been to see that the next conference was organised. Prior to the eleventh conference in 2004, the ANZGG will be formally incorporated in Victoria. We hope to retain the relaxed informailty that has always been valued within the group, whilst at the same time affording office bearers some protection from liability for the financial and other dealings of the ANZGG.
This web site has been established to provide an ongoing presence for the ANZGG on the internet. The domain name, 'anzgg.org', is intended to provide an easy-to-remember point of access for notices from the ANZGG to members, and an email address (enquiries@anzgg.org) that members can use to raise matters of interest with the current office holders.
